About United Way Funding

United Way of Crookston provides grant opportunities that support the Strategic Impact Plans for three primary focus areas. Our portfolio includes close to 22 partner agencies.

  • Does your agency currently have 501 (c) (3) status?
  • Does your agency provide social services within the United Way of Crookston service area (Crookston, Fisher, Euclid, Fertile, Beltrami, Mentor, Climax, Red Lake Falls, Thief River Falls, St. Hillaire and Goodridge)?
  • Do you currently have one or more secured sources of funding for the program?
  • Has your agency been providing services for two or more years?
  • Can your agency produce the following four result factors: program accountability (and fiscal responsibility), demonstrate lasting change in people’s lives, efficiently and effectively run programs, and programs that are responsive to the changing community needs.

Current Funding Opportunity


As of Spring 2015, United Way of Crookston has a new system for applying for funding and completing required reporting. Please look at the matrix below to decide which application will best represent your request.

*All organizations seeking United Way funding must meet the General Funding Criteria. 


Send original completed application electronically via email. Original application with supporting documents and four (4) copies (application only) must be mailed or dropped off. Completed and typed applications with attachments must be received at the United Way of Crookston office no later than 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 31, 2017. 

Submit the following with your application

  • 501 (c) (3) document. For government affiliated organizations, please submit document of tax status.
  • Organization's most recent financial statement and a copy of IRS 990. You may use an audited financial statement for the previous fiscal year.
  • Organization's current Board of Directors full roster including complete contact information.


Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.- Application deadline

February 23, 2017- Grant Hearing Appointment reminder sent

March 13, 14, & 16, 2017 - Grant Hearings, United Way office.
